Getting a library card is easy at the Public Library of
Mount Vernon and Knox County. You will need to fill out a
short form at the Circulation Desk. You must also bring with
you:
Photo-identification (driver's license, state ID, school
ID)
Something with your current address (like a utility bill)
if your photo-identification does not have your current address
College students should have their photo-identification (with
permanent address) and their school ID
You will receive your card (which you must sign) immediately.
Minors whose parent(s)/guardian(s) are NOT present will have
their cards sent to their home so that their parent(s)/guardian(s)
know that their child has a card.
Please note: the parent(s)/guardian(s)
are responsible for fines and charges on their child's card. Your library card will "expire" one year from issue
date. You will not be issued a new card. Rather, you will
need to update any information (address, phone number, etc.)
that has changed, so that your patron record remains accurate.
If you lose your library card, a new one can be issued, however,
there is a one dollar replacement fee.
