Welcome to the Outreach Services Department
The Outreach Services Department delivers library materials and services to residents of the Knox County Library District who would otherwise have severely limited or no access to them. This includes the elderly, homebound, handicapped, institutionalized and children in preschool or daycare settings. The Department also facilitates the flow of library materials among the main library and branches. The Department makes individual deliveries to patrons in private residences, apartment complexes and retirement or nursing homes. Services to institutional settings include Knox Community Hospital, the Knox County Jail and a variety of preschools, daycare centers and Amish schools. The Outreach Services Department also handles the Talking Book Service, in collaboration with the State Library of Ohio and the Regional Library for the Blind and Handicapped in Cleveland. The Department supplies applications for persons interested in the service, picks up and delivers Talking Book machines and acts as a liaison between local patrons the state and national services.
