WELCOME...
The Technology Department maintains and services well over
85 systems at 4 locations. Within the library system we offer
13 public Internet access computers, 2 dedicated homework
stations at the main library, and 10 OPAC catalog systems.
Besides servicing computers it is the job of the technology
department to complete reasearch into new technology and finding
better ways. Two full-time and one part-time person are at
the call of the library staff within the system.
FREE Wireless Internet
The Public Library of Mount Vernon and all branches offer
free wireless Internet to the public. After a long deliberation,
research & development, and testing we have completed
the setup of wireless access.
Our wireless is 802.11b and 802.11g operating on the 2.4GHz
frequency and is available during the regular hours of the
library.
This is an open FREE wireless access point
that requires NO SIGNUP or monthly charges. Simply bring your
wireless device into one of these areas, power up, and your
wireless network card should detect. Our SSID for the hotspot
is LIBRARY.

circulation desk. Due to technology
staffing we are unable to provide technical support for your
devices. Users are expected to know how to operate the wireless
device without staff intervention.

the staff computers, patron PC's at the library, KnoxNET,
and other technology devices within. We do not provide support
for home based computers, however we are happy to refer you
