The Technology Department maintains and services well over 85 systems at 4 locations. Within the library system we offer 26 public Internet access computers and 10 OPAC catalog access systems.
Besides servicing computers, it is the job of the technology department to complete reasearch into new technology and finding better ways.
Wireless access at the library
The Public Library of Mount Vernon and all branches offer free wireless Internet to the public. After a long deliberation, research & development, and testing we have completed the setup of wireless access.
Our wireless is 802.11b and 802.11g operating on the 2.4GHz frequency and is available during the regular hours of the library.
This is an open FREE wireless access point that requires NO SIGNUP or monthly charges. Simply bring your wireless device into one of these areas, power up, and your wireless network card should detect. Our SSID for the hotspot is LIBRARY.
For more information please ask for the FAQ page at the main circulation desk. Due to technology staffing we are unable to provide technical support for your devices. Users are expected to know how to operate the wireless device without staff intervention.
