It is the coming of the End Times. The Apocalypse is near – actually next Saturday. Unfortunately, it seems the Antichrist has been misplaced. Does that mean the end of the world is postponed? Don’t count on it. But count on lots and lots of laughs. The book discussion will be led by Mary McGavick and Ted Dingler of the Library’s Reference staff

Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County Wins Teen Tech Week Mini Grant
The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County is proud to announce that it was one of twenty libraries nationwide to win a Teen Tech Week Mini Grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). Teen Tech Week is a national initiative sponsored by YALSA aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of technologies, especially those that are offered through libraries such as DVDs, databases, audiobooks, and videogames. Teen Tech Week encourages teens to use libraries' nonprint resources for education and recreation, and to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals in the field of information technology. Teen Tech Week began in 2007 and has a general theme of Get Connected @ your library. The 2008 celebration is March 2-8.

Beth Hoeffgen, the Library’s Young Adult Coordinator, will demonstrate three popular video games which have appeal to adults as well as youth: “Wii Sports,” “Dance Dance Revolution,” and “Guitar Hero III.”
