Children's Take It and Go Craft

Stop by the circulation desk at the Fredericktown Community Library anytime on the first of the month and pick up a Children's Take It and Go craft. Free and available while supplies last.

Cookbook Club 2026

Fredericktown Community Library 2026 Cookbook Club meets on the 2nd Thursday each month at 5:30 p.m. at the library. Books are available at the library. Using a pre-selected cookbook...prepare a recipe to bring and share with the group.

Tuesdays at 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. join us for Family Storytime with Miss Cindy. Enjoy a story and a craft. No registration necessary. Free and open to the public. All ages welcome.

Youth Storytime with Miss Chrissy

Fredericktown Community Library Storytime with Miss Chrissy for ages 1 through 8, on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. at the library. No registration necessary. Each week, Storytime will be a different theme. Free and open to the public.

Family Craft: Friendship Bracelets

Come join us for a family inspired craft making friendship bracelets on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All supplies provided. Refreshments too! Registration required, beginning Monday, May 4. Stop by the library or call 740-694-2665 to register. This program is geared towards children with parents or guardians and grandparents. Free and open to the public. 

Adult Craft: Novel Rose

Join us to make beautiful roses fashioned out of pages from a book. These would add a special interest to any display. All supplies provided. Refreshments served. Family Fossil Frenzy

Meet the dinosaurs with Dino Buddies! This interactive program features incredibly realistic dinosaur puppets, fun dinosaur facts, and an unforgettable hands-on learning experience for dinosaur fans of all ages. Join us on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium, at the Fredericktown Board of Education building, 117 Columbus Rd. Fredericktown. Free and open to all ages.
 Get registered for a Family Fossil Frenzy beginning Monday, June 1. Stop by the library to register or call 740-694-2665. Join us for making fossils on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fredericktown Community Library. This program is geared towards children age 4-12, parents, and grandparents. Supplies and refreshments provided. Free and open to the public.

Adult Craft: Homemade Plant Markers

Hand craft Plant Markers for the growing season on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the library from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. These markers can be placed in your potted plants to add a little color and fun. All supplies provided. Snacks too! Registration required beginning June 1. Stop by the library or call 740-694-2665 to register. Open to adult 18+.

Realm of the Reptile

Dive into the fascinating world of reptiles with hands-on fun, learning, and exploration!

Experience the wonder of snakes, turtles, lizards, and more in the Realm of the Reptiles program at Fredericktown’s Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium at the Fredericktown Board of Education building, Door C, 117 Columbus Rd. Fredericktown. This exciting session invites young explorers to get up close with amazing reptiles while discovering their unique habits, habitats, and adaptations. Perfect for curious minds, participants will enjoy interactive activities, engaging demonstrations, and plenty of fun facts that make learning about these extraordinary creatures unforgettable.

The Ohio Bird Sanctuary: Birds of Prey

​Get up close and personal with Ohio’s most majestic hunters of the sky! The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is bringing some of their incredible birds of prey—including hawks, owls, and possibly even an eagle—for an unforgettable educational experience.

Join us at the Y-Sports Center, 200 W. Chestnut St. Mount Vernon, for a visit with the Ohio Bird Sanctuary with a Birds of Prey Presentation, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

You’ll learn fascinating facts about each bird’s unique adaptations, hunting skills, and role in the ecosystem, while meeting these feathered ambassadors face-to-face. Perfect for nature lovers of all ages, this program blends wildlife education with awe-inspiring encounters you’ll never forget. Come see the wild side of Ohio. Free and open to the public.

Red, White, & Blue Party

Red, White, and Blue Party at the Fredericktown Community Library on Wednesday, July 2, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Come celebrate our 250th anniversary of the United States of America at the Fredericktown Community Library! We will have hotdogs, snow cones, games, crafts, patio entertainment, and prizes. We will also display a custom quilt by the Corky Country Quilters. Free and open to all ages.

2026 Summer Reading Program End Party

Come join us on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 p.m. for our end of the Summer Reading Program Party at the library. Enjoy walking tacos, snow cones, games and crafts. The Summer Reading Program winners will be announced. Free and open to all ages. Celebrate meeting your reading goals!

Pick up a Five Book Reading Challenge Reading Log at any Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County branch. Read five different books based on the chosen topics found on the entry form. Read, record, and turn in the completed reading log at any PLMVKC circulation desk before July 10, 2026 to be entered to win one of four- $25 Visa gift cards.

Fredericktown Storybook Trail

Look for the Storybook Trail on the dirt path between Levering and Merrin Park, located at 130 Stadium Drive, Fredericktown. Enjoy a small nature walk while reading a picture book.

Our featured title is Little Penguin Gets the Hiccups ​by Tadgh Bentley.

The Storybook Trail will be changed out quarterly, so be sure to check out future titles.

This Storybook Trail was made possible with the help of the Scarbrough Bequest.
