The Ohio Bird Sanctuary: Birds of Prey
Get up close and personal with Ohio’s most majestic hunters of the sky! The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is bringing some of their incredible birds of prey—including hawks, owls, and possibly even an eagle—for an unforgettable educational experience.
Join us at the Y-Sports Center, 200 W. Chestnut St. Mount Vernon, for a visit with the Ohio Bird Sanctuary with a Birds of Prey Presentation, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Summer Reading Program Party
Gambier Community Library Summer Reading Program Party Join us at the Gambier Community Library for our annual Summer Reading Program Party on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium.
We will have crafts, temporary tattoos, games, prizes, music, bubbles, snacks and walking tacos! We will also have a Dinosaur Egg Hunt starting at 4:00 p.m. Children and teens can choose a free book for reaching their reading goals too!

The Gambier Community Library encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he or she enters school. One of the best ways to encourage learning is to spend time sharing books every day. Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills:
- Print awareness
- Letter knowledge
- Vocabulary
- Narrative skills
Storybook Trail on a Paved Path!
Look for the Storybook Trail on the paved path by the library. The beginning of the story starts near the front of the building. Enjoy a leisurely walk while reading a picture book! Storybook Trail is also handicap accessible.
Our featured book is Something Stinks by Jonathan Fenske. The Storybook title will be changed out quarterly, so be sure to check out future titles.
