Teen Writing Program
Calling all young writers, age 13-18! Join the Teen Writing Program at our Main Library in Mount Vernon for fun writing activities in poetry and prose on Wednesdays (June 12, June 26, July 10, July 17, July 24, July 31 and August 7th) from 2:00pm-3:30pm. Snacks, notebooks and materials provided.
The Library presents special guest Mindy McGinnis at our July 10th meeting where she’ll talk about her latest YA novel, Under This Red Rock. TWP meetings are held in the Main Library Solarium, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon. All welcome!

YA Author Visit: Mindy McGinnis
Join the Teen MakerSpace and Teen Writing Programs at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County on Wednesday July 10th at 2:00 pm in the Library Solarium to celebrate "Under This Red Rock" a new novel by Mindy McGinnis. With “Under This Red Rock,” award-winning author Mindy McGinnis delivers a powerful psychological thriller, deftly exploring the dark places in the earth and the human mind, where what is real and imaginary isn’t so easily distinguishable.
The book giveaway of “Under This Red Rock” begins at the Main Library on Friday, May 30th and continues while supplies last. All are welcome, but this program is appropriate for audiences age 14-19. ABOUT MINDY MCGINNIS
Mindy McGinnis is the author of multiple novels that span many genres. From historical to fantasy, contemporary to gothic thriller, you can always count on Mindy’s books to deliver grit, truth, and an unflinching look at humanity and the world around us.
A ninth-generation farmer, Mindy attributes much of her character to growing up on an Ohio farm, learning the value of physical labor, and the harshness of the natural world early in life. Much of her writing reflects small-town living and aspects of rural poverty. A former school librarian, Mindy still lives and works in her hometown.
The Library thanks Park National Bank for its sponsorship of the 2024 Summer Reading Program for children and teens.
